Application

One generator, three roles

The generator is not just an emergency solution — it is an active part of your energy system, managed by our VPP and EMS platform together with the battery and load bank.

Emergency power & backup

In the event of a power outage, the generator starts automatically and takes over the supply of critical loads until normal operation is restored.

Up-regulation & system services

The generator can provide upward-regulating capacity for Energinet's reserve markets, such as mFRR. The ComAp controller supports load transfer in under 100 ms when there is a need for extra power in the grid.

HVO and biogas-ready operation

The engine is approved for HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) according to EN15940 and can be prepared for biogas operation, so that emergency power and capacity upgrades do not need to be based on fossil diesel.

The difference in practice

Without a generator vs. with a generator from Meganet

A generator changes how exposed your operations are to grid outages and peak loads.

Without a generator

CrashFull reliance on the reliability of the network
Peak loadNo possibility of local upscaling
FuelTypically only fossil diesel as an option

With generator from Meganet

CrashAutomatic transfer of critical loads
Peak loadCan provide upward regulating system services
FuelHVO and biogas-ready engine
Questions and Answers

Good to know about generators

How quickly does the generator start in the event of a power failure?

The ComAp controller detects a mains failure and automatically starts the generator, ensuring critical loads have their supply restored as quickly as possible.

Can the generator run on anything other than diesel?

Yes. The engine is approved for HVO according to EN15940 and can be prepared for biogas operation, so you can reduce the fossil fuel share of your emergency power and regulation capacity.

Can the generator participate in system services?

Yes, the generator can provide upward regulating capacity to markets such as mFRR when it is not occupied with emergency power standby. The ComAp controller supports load transfer in under 100 ms.

How often does the generator require service?

Like all rotating machinery, the generator requires scheduled service and ongoing supervision. Meganet handles agreed-upon maintenance throughout the entire operating period.

Can the generator be synchronized with a battery system?

Yes. The ComAp controller supports parallel operation with other sources, so the generator, battery, and load bank can work together as one system via our EMS platform.

Which emission standards does the generator meet?

The engine is certified to Stage V, the strictest current EU emission standard for internal combustion engines in this power class.

Is the generator approved for grid connection according to the Danish/European grid code?

Yes. The synchronization controller (ComAp InteliGen 1000) is third-party certified by Kiwa to EN50549-1:2019 and tested according to EN50549-10:2022 (certificate 23-364-00), and also supports European grid codes such as VDE-AR-N 4110/4105, UK G99, and the American IEEE 1547.
